Customer praise

Here's what some of our customers have said via thank you cards, emails, letters and at the pool.

“We would like to take the opportunity to say thank you for all of your encouragement you have given to Rosie - she is certainly a lot more confident in the water than she used to be!”

"They are using my daughter as an example as her stroke is so good compared to the other children who are still learning"  (this child has just left Baba Seahose to join a Swim Club for older children)

"To Dave and Lulu.  Thank you for teaching me how to swim.  I have had lots of fun and because I can swim I had a brilliant time in the swimming pool on holiday.  Thank you also for my swim top, it was very kind of you"

"Thank you for all your hard work with Monet and Blake.  We have all loved coming swimming with you and will really miss it."

"We tried other classes (whilst we had relocated elsewhere) but they just lack the dynamics of Baba Seahorse lessons"

Ivor to Dave "you are like the Horse Whisperer of swimming" whilst reflecting on his 3 year old's child rapid progressions and happy integration into the class.

"... We have thoroughly enjoyed your classes and have been really impressed with how Max has progressed under your tuition.  Many thanks..."

"You have been wonderful! Thank you both. Amy and I have had great fun over the past 3 years and 3 months! You have provided Amy with some fantastic skills and taught her how to behave around water!  Hopefully, she'll never have to use them but I know they would save her life if need be.  She'll certainly be using them to have lots of fun. We'll always remember you.  Take Care and all the very best for the future and the business.  With love and thanks from Jo, Rich, Amy and Katie"

Dom to Dave "I don't know how you do it Dave".. said after his child backfloated straight away with Dave's guidance.

“I would therefore like to take this opportunity to send you my heart felt thanks for your support and encouragement over the last 4 years with Jack. I never thought I would see the day when he is swimming on his own and enjoying his swimming and being around the pool so much. I can safely say it will break his heart when I tell him that his classes with Dave will be finishing.   Thank you again for your support along a very bumpy road, but one I hope you will take great pride from and will use as an example to other parents, as I feel that if you can have the success that you have had with Jack, you can achieve it with any child. You are both brilliant. :-)”

Baba Seahorse – Why do I think it is successful as a swimming school?

1.       I note that the school address the needs of Mothers/Fathers (‘child handler’) in a variety of ways:

Some are over cautious and can prevent a child from moving forward in their swimming capability and/or water confidence. This is recognised and encouragement to the parent is provided.

Some are over zealous with children who may simply be on an ‘off’ day or not ready to move forward. This is quickly noted and suitable advice provided so as to avoid the child becoming unconfident.

Some do not consistently respect water safety procedures and don’t adequately convey this message to their child. This aspect is consistently addressed.

Many of us (me included) get anxious when our child seems to go backwards for a period which appears to be a common experience. It is difficult to maintain a positive approach with your child. Baba Seahorse acknowledges this and provides assurance of the ‘phase’, techniques to encourage, and actively encourage themselves (both equally pool & pool side) in a variety of novel and successful ways incorporating play & psychology. They are also completely ‘on hand’ outside of the swimming arena to discuss personal concerns that may be ‘overspilling’ into your childs swimming performance.

Once term time is completed the break is never ignored…..Baba Seahorse will willing give suggestions for you to encourage progress throughout this period, and enquire about swimming activities on return.

2.   I believe Baba Seahorse address the children's abilities/needs in a variety of ways:

Favourite games/toys incorporating swimming are addressed individually if need be. Some children prefer to play with 1 particular swimming toy/float, whilst others are happy being more competitive. Individual swimming time is equally addressed both in and out of pool so as to not alienate that child. If a child has gone backwards new items will be purchase specifically for that child to try and encourage enjoyment again. The children’s enjoyment seem paramount to the ethos Baba Seahorse have.

Baba Seahorse spend personal time with each child after each lesson going through their achievements that day. They are encouraged to think about what they were good at, what they did that was exceptional, what they refused to do and why (if appropriate), if they weren’t listening to the teacher and so on…..then each child has a star. STA certificates and badges are also provided once completed, and their STA achievements are noted in a professional manner from poolside with consistent feedback as to their progress towards next level.

3.  Finally, Baba Seahorse is always open to suggestions acknowledging that as clients (a double set in a way parent + child), we could potentially provide the way to new ideas/songs/play activities which would vaguely enhance, what I consider an already excellent professional swimming school in many ways.
