The Baba Seahorse team

Baba Seahorse Swim School, Dave Salt and Lulu West, opened up its swimming doors in June 2005 with the view of helping young children to have confidence in the water, to be safe and to swim; of any age (i.e. there are no age restrictions) with any physical and mental ability.   We take pride that we are a child centred swimming environment and have a flexible and structured approach with your child's swimming.

We are members of the STA (Swimming Teachers Associate) and all teachers are fully qualified and insured with a lifeguard qualification.  We are CRB checked with enchanced disclosure and the whole team have the Appointed First Aid certificate. We have public liability insurance specific for a swim school, and for our staff.

We have experience of working with children through their various stages of development, along with with the more nervous children that have never been to a swimming pool.   With lots of  patience, fun, unconditional trust and consistency your child will eventually develop the confidence to let go of you and start their first independent swim - We help you to develop the skill, confidence and fun to help your child and importantly at your child's own pace, irrespective of what the rest of the class is doing.

Poolside Assistants are to help answer any questions, to administer First Aid if required, and to support your instructor.  As mums already swimming with us, they are wonderful with the children and we encourage feedback from parents and from children too.

Customer Service.  We will always try to provide each child and parent some personal time during the lessons.  Otherwise, we always welcome your call to the office.

Qualifications.   We hold all the qualifications listed below.

Kelly was one of our parents (always taking her children swimming) who initially trained as a Poolside Assistant and has recently qualified as a Swimming Teacher holding the STC(B) for beginners, NaRS PH, and a First Aid Certificate.  She shall be taking over some of the classes during 2009 when she has qualified for her Baby & Pre-School Certificate.

Dave Salt oversees the teaching programme whilst his partner, Lulu West, looks after the administration.
